Det \u00e4r en av de grundl\u00e4ggande existentiella formerna f\u00f6r att leva tillsammans. Det ger orientering, samlar och f\u00f6rbinder. Ut\u00f6ver sj\u00e4lva behovet av att \u00e4ta har m\u00e5ltiden sociala, rituella och till och med religi\u00f6sa r\u00f6tter.<sup>jfr 1<\/sup> Detta g\u00e4ller s\u00e5v\u00e4l inom familjen och v\u00e4nkretsen som i arbetslivet, i samh\u00e4llet och i statsv\u00e4rlden.<sup>jfr 2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Det omsorgsfullt dukade bordet \u00e4r en del av den gemensamma m\u00e5ltiden. Som en inbjudande gest \u00e4r det dukade bordet en symbol f\u00f6r g\u00e4stfrihet och gemenskap som centrala dygder i den m\u00e4nskliga kulturen.<\/p>\n<p>En ursprunglig form av bordet \u00e4r altaret. Inom kristendomen kallas det Mensa domini, Herrens bord, med h\u00e4nvisning till Jesu sista m\u00e5ltid med sina l\u00e4rjungar. Altarets fasta attribut \u00e4r en altarduk av v\u00e4vt vitt linne. Tillsammans med dukarna till v\u00e4rdbeh\u00e5llaren symboliserar den Kristi liksvepning.<sup>jfr 3<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>\"Den vita altarduken \u00e4r den duk som h\u00f6r till den heliga m\u00e5ltiden. Det faktum att den ligger permanent p\u00e5 altaret \u00e4r en p\u00e5minnelse om dess grundl\u00e4ggande betydelse (...) f\u00f6r f\u00f6rsamlingens tillbedjan. Handv\u00e4vt rent linne anv\u00e4nds till altarduken. Den (...) b\u00f6r snarare sluta med refektoriets fr\u00e4mre kant eller till och med strax f\u00f6re den, s\u00e5 att den vilar som en l\u00f6pare p\u00e5 altarskivan.\"<sup>4<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>\"Det \u00e4ldsta t\u00e4cket av vitt linne hade sin orsak i tolkningen av detsamma till det fina linne i vilket Jesu kropp sveptes in efter nedtagningen fr\u00e5n korset. Altarduken har d\u00e4rf\u00f6r alltid varit en s\u00e5 v\u00e4sentlig del av ett altares attribut att avl\u00e4gsnandet av den ans\u00e5gs vara en vanhelgande av helgedomen (...). Endast under martyrveckan, sk\u00e4rtorsdagen, kolfredagen och p\u00e5sksabbaten, (...) en symbolisk p\u00e5minnelse om Kristus (...) \u00f6vergiven av sina l\u00e4rjungar och avkl\u00e4dd sina kl\u00e4der.\"<sup>5<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>De finaste v\u00e4vda linnedukarna h\u00f6r till de tidigaste vittnesm\u00e5len om textilkonst, tusentals \u00e5r f\u00f6re Kristi f\u00f6delse. De \u00e4r ett kulturellt arv som har pr\u00e4glat v\u00e5rt kollektiva minne.<sup>jfr 6<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Dyrbart bordslinne \u00e4r en integrerad del av brudens och brudgummens trousseau. Som vitt linne tillverkades det f\u00f6r hand i tillr\u00e4ckliga m\u00e4ngder fram till h\u00f6g \u00e5lder. Sturgeon-skr\u00e4ddare gick fr\u00e5n g\u00e5rd till g\u00e5rd och tog \u00f6ver delar av s\u00f6mnadsarbetet. De f\u00f6rvarades prydligt i praktfullt m\u00e5lade eller dekorerade kistor och sk\u00e5p som v\u00e4rdefulla \u00e4godelar. Under m\u00e5nga \u00e5rhundraden betraktades utkl\u00e4dnaden som ett tecken p\u00e5 v\u00e4lst\u00e5nd och steget in i ett sj\u00e4lvst\u00e4ndigt liv.<\/p>\n<p>Betydelsen av bordsduken symboliseras av uttrycket \"klippa bordsduken\". Denna gest tillk\u00e4nnager en v\u00e4nskap, uppl\u00f6ser en gemenskap eller de n\u00e4rmaste familjebanden: \"Under medeltiden var gifta par som ville g\u00f6ra sin separation juridiskt giltig tvungna att klippa en bordsduk. Var och en av dem beh\u00f6ll sin bit. Ett av de str\u00e4ngaste straffen under medeltiden var att sk\u00e4ra av bordsduken f\u00f6r adelsm\u00e4n. Om bordsduken klipptes av utesl\u00f6ts de ur gemenskapen.<sup>7<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Fr\u00e5n den w\u00fcrttembergska dynastin av greve Eberhard, Uhland rapporterar efter sonens nederlag i slaget vid Reutlingen 1388:<\/p>\n<p>\"Han m\u00f6ter den gamle fadern ensam vid middagsm\u00e5ltiden, ett kyligt v\u00e4lkomnande! Inte ett ord h\u00f6rs i salen. Ulrich sitter mitt emot sin far vid bordet, hans \u00f6gon \u00e4r nedslagna, vin och fisk bringas till honom; d\u00e5 tar den gamle mannen en kniv och talar inte ett ord, och sk\u00e4r duken itu mellan dem.\"<sup>8<\/sup><\/p>\n<p class=\"fussnote\"><sub>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/sub><br \/>\njfr 1. Skuggande satinv\u00e4var v\u00e4ljs f\u00f6r ett enhetligt, \u00e5terh\u00e5llsamt v\u00e4vutseende.<\/p>\n<p>V\u00e4vmaterialet \u00e4r fint linne i Nm 30 till 40 och fina gr\u00e5 till naturliga nyanser. V\u00e4vt\u00e4theten \u00e4r satt till 27 tr\u00e5dar per centimeter f\u00f6r ett tyg som ligger bra p\u00e5 bordet med en \u00e4del lyster. Varpt\u00e4theten \u00e4r 48 tr\u00e5dar per centimeter med en varpbredd p\u00e5 1,65 meter.<\/p>\n<p>Bordsl\u00f6parna v\u00e4vs korsvis. S\u00e5 efter en l\u00e4ngd p\u00e5 60 centimeter kan varje l\u00f6pare designas om. Det g\u00f6r det m\u00f6jligt att skapa unika exemplar och sm\u00e5 serier, f\u00f6rs\u00f6k och experiment. Den trelagiga v\u00e4ven g\u00f6r det n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndigt att upprepa efter var 55:e centimeter. Raka linjer eller ett skissartat intryck. Hur beter sig m\u00f6nstret n\u00e4r det v\u00e4vs, hur beter det sig n\u00e4r det tv\u00e4ttas, hur ser det ut och k\u00e4nns.
