With the Seegers weaving mill, it is possible to transform hand-drawn designs into the finest fabrics. The jacquard woven table runners are a dress for the table as the central point in the room.
The design cooperation combines the expertise of Weberei Seegers as Germany's oldest weaving mill and the weaver and textile designer Lucia Schwalenberg. The starting point are hand-drawn designs in pencil, colored pencil, ink and collages. The designs are digitized and reduced to the desired number of shades of gray. the lines are made more precise and neatened. The card beater overlays the shading with atlas binding and produces the jacquard card run for each design using hundreds of verdol stitch cards.
In the designs, it was necessary to approach design criteria for freehand drawing in the implementation on the jacquard. How much clarity should there be, how much reduction, how much detail is possible, how much fineness, shading, how fine or broad a stroke. How does the design behave during weaving, how during washing, how does it look and how does it feel. The result is a series of jacquard table runners that appear light and graceful, elegant and individual. A collection with expressiveness for the table as the central point in the room.
The foundations of the designs and technical development were laid by attending the shuttle course of the Linz University of Art at the Textile Center Haslach with its wonderful team.
